I am sharing a small idea for families who read Bible stories in English. Pick a short passage, then let everyone choose one word for the others to find. Names work too, though the spelling can get tricky.. No timer needed.

Bible4Soul is our project, and the free crossword is at https://bible4soul.com/games/bible-crossword/. It uses Bible vocabulary, so its more suited to children who already read some English. A younger child can work with a grown up, or just say an answer aloud.

The bit I like about this idea is leaving the book open. Looking up a word count as part of the game, nobody has to remember everything. And if a clue takes too long just skip it for now. Would you use a word puzzle after a story, or keep the two seperate?
